Beer & Cider treats in store

8th August 2017

Beer and cider drinkers are in for a treat at Metfield Village Fete Mini Beer Festival to be held on the 18th and 19th of August.  The festival kicks off in the Metfield Village Hall Bar from 6pm on the evening of Friday 18th August and then continues from 12pm alongside the Fete and Produce Show on Saturday 19th August.

We have lined up three carefully selected guest ales and two ciders for the pleasure of local aficionados, occasional tipplers and the merely curious. Three more ales are due to be confirmed shortly.

Lightweight from the micro brewery brewery at the Queen’s Head in Earsham, is a Suffolk brew to tempt the taste buds.

From over the border in Norfolk we are smuggling in some EPA a 5% abv offering from the Fat Cat Brewery which categorises it as “an Extra Pale Ale, which balances Norfolk barley with a blend of hops from Britain, Europe and the Americas. Full-bodied and eminently drinkable, it belies its strength and has undone many resolutions – very moreish!”.

Also hailing from the Fat Cat Brewery is a brew named Cat’s Eyes a 4.0% abv with a straw colour, and dry-hopped with Green Bullet from New Zealand. It boasts a grassy aroma and bitter finish

Cider drinkers are also in for a treat with two excellent offerings lined up in the shape of Thundering Molly from Celtic Marches and Happy Daze from Gwynt y Draig.

Thundering Molly is a 5.2% abv well rounded medium cider. According to Celtic Marches it is “fresh and fruity with a lovely apple aroma and a gorgeous golden colour and a balanced finish. A blend of bitter sweet and sharp cider apples, it is made on their Herefordshire farm from 100% cider apples”.

Happy Daze is a 4.5% abv medium cider which the Welsh cider company, Gwynt y Draig, describes as “light, bright and fruity with a smooth, and fresh tasting finish – a very easy to drink medium cider”.
